Andrew W. Hawthorne
Admitted to practice law in 1989 and a partner with Monteleone & McCrory since 2000, Andrew W. Hawthorne is an experienced and highly capable trial attorney. Since joining the firm in 1995, Mr. Hawthorne was an integral part of the team handling actions arising out of the construction of the Metro Rail Line through Hollywood and North Hollywood, including the prosecution of contractor claims and defense of property owner damage claims in excess of 100 million dollars. Mr. Hawthorne also assisted in a six week trial resulting in a judgment against the City of Los Angeles in excess of 35 million dollars. Since commencing his tenure with the firm, Mr. Hawthorne has prosecuted or defended hundreds of cases on behalf of contractors.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hawthorne handled numerous general business and civil cases, including complex business disputes and construction defect matters.
Mr. Hawthorne has successfully handled and tried cases in both state and federal courts as well as matters defending employers against "serious and willful" allegations before the Workers Compensation Appeal Board. He has extensive experience litigating collection matters, including the foreclosure of mechanic's liens on behalf of material suppliers and subcontractors.
Mr. Hawthorne received his undergraduate degree from Occidental College in 1985. He earned his law degree from Loyola Law School in 1989, where he was a member of the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society, and the recipient of an American Jurisprudence Award. Mr. Hawthorne's professional affiliations include the Los Angeles County Bar Association and American Bar Association. Prior to becoming involved in the law, Mr. Hawthorne worked in the lumber industry and spent several summers constructing single family homes on the northern California coast.
