Scott R. Lane

Scott Lane is a partner in Monteleone & McCrory's Los Angeles office. He has an emphasis in construction related cases, including construction defect litigation and public works contract disputes.

Mr. Lane received his undergraduate degree from Loyola Marymount University in 1994. Mr. Lane joined Monteleone & McCrory as a law clerk while attending Loyola Law School in Los Angeles where he was the recipient of two American Jurisprudence awards in Land Use Controls and Constitutional Law Seminar. Mr. Lane joined Monteleone & McCrory in November of 1997 and became a partner in 2005.

Mr. Lane has represented contractors and architects in construction defect litigation including projects for construction of private roadways at the Eldorado Country Club in Indian Wells, for the Classroom/Laboratory/Administration building at Cal Poly Pomona, the Watts/Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club in California, and numerous residential developments and improvements. Mr. Lane also participated heavily in a joint defense involving a public agency, its contractor, and its designers, facing property damage and economic loss claims by private property and business owners located adjacent to the Los Angeles Redline subway alignment. These experiences have provided critical background in the areas of architectural design standards, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, structural engineering, construction means and methods and costs of repair.

Mr. Lane has also represented prime contractors, subcontractors and suppliers in numerous public works construction cases involving contract claims for payment, delay, extra work, and breach of warranty. Most notable among these projects are the Hyperion Treatment Plant C109 project, the Hyperion Treatment Plant C111 project, the Metro Redline C331 project, the City of Vacaville’s Easterly Waste Water Treatment Plant project, and the Arrowhead East and Arrowhead West underground tunnel projects in San Bernardino. Mr. Lane has extensive experience in public works bid protests.

Mr. Lane has trial and arbitration experience, with favorable outcomes, and has also appeared and submitted briefs before the California Court of Appeal.

Mr. Lane is married with three children and resides in San Pedro, California. He is the president of a non-profit corporation, the San Pedro Youth Coalition, now in its 21st year of advocating for the preservation and expansion of youth recreational facilities and programming in his hometown.
